Summer Services is the largest annual event sponsored by Suomen Rauhanyhdistysten Keskusyhdistys. The history of Summer Services dates back further than the foundation of SRK. The first “meeting of Christians”, as it was called, was held at the Oulu rauhanyhdistys facility as early as 1906 during special four-day services. About 2000 members attended. The meeting agreed to establish a central office to organize mission work. In 1914, the central office was replaced by a central organization (SRK) dedicated to support the work of local rauhanyhdistys organizations.
Ever since the beginning, services have been arranged in many parts of Finland. Services are considered an important way to support the local adherents of Laestadian faith and a significant channel for mission work.
